The masthead in this magazine is bold and capital letter being used with the colour red which makes it unique and stand out than the main artist. The teasers are white texts. The reason why red and white colour only used is because firstly Red brings text and images to the foreground. It stimulates people to make quick decisions. The colour scheme revolves around this with and potentially buying the magazine as well as it stands out clearly on the background. The red colour perfectly matches with the main image in the front cover as it evokes a sense of beauty of her and memories that she made in Bollywood career, along with white colour proves her perfection of her acting and her talent. However since the masthead is in front of the artist, it outlines that the magazine is more important than the artist; the masthead is bold simple text catching attention with capital letters. Plus since there are only few teasers, the magazine would get a quick attention from its audience. As Filmfare, is India's No.1 entertainment magazine, engaging readers with exciting stories, exclusive interviews, sneak previews, top music’s ,musicians, gossip and interactivity; the target audience for Filmfare are mass film audiences although it mainly targeted on young audience since young people watch more Bollywood news etc. Thus therefore the artist image matches with the target audience as Aishwarya rai is one of the most famous iconic artist in Bollywood. The anchorage in here is implying that since the title is about Bollywood industry , Aishwarya rai was the first young female actress who made her own success by winning femmine miss India. With the image direct mode of address has been used to connect to the viewers because the direct mode of address makes the audience think that main cove line is less important than her and since she’s staring at our face we will be more attracted in her look than the story. In addition close up shots makes the image appear more vibrating and striking especially when red colour is used for the word “memories”. Nevertheless the image covers the whole background with only showing her as the main attention seeker and the short teasers creates “less reading” for the audience ; this could make the audience buy the magazine and pick it up first. The Tone: Irreverent, Witty and has An Opinion, it’s more formal but quite posh, hence the language is like mystified or puzzled because sometime it’s the main headlines (main cover line) that is the attention seeker, also it depends on the type of artist in the cover. We can understand the music genre being portrayed since the artist is famous for her role in Bollywood industry and especially the title ‘Filmfare” meaning that it covers all the areas of Bollywood industry like music’s. Moreover even though the target audience for this magazine is females it can be also male as the magazine can potentially attract male audience from the image of beautiful famous Aishwarya, but it’s mainly femmine as the cover lines are more about glamour ,reviews etc. ( the direct look with the red colour and white gives an impression of glamour mood ). The connotations in this magazine is the main artist trying to catch the attention of the audience that she’s the main cover star and how’s she made her success in her in Bollywood career, which therefore directly links to the other stories in the magazine as it will explore other famous artist like her, which makes the audience more exciting to read about the magazine since especially with title colour red connotes urgency to look at her. The bar code is underneath the title so it’s out of the stories and easy to see along with the price is Rs 50, and is positioned between the masthead and strap line This makes it visible but discreet and not distracting from the rest of the front cover. The date is placed alongside the price, so that it too doesn't distract from the rest of the front cover. There is only one feature article photograph on the cover, making it appear less cluttered so the main headline stands out further, and shows how important it is to read the main cover. The teasers at the bottom of the front cover tempts people to buy the magazine as its short texts and it would make people turn the pages of the magazine. Overall the magazine is attractive and people would attempt to buy it because the main artist is famous and well known so it would draw people to buy it. However since there are less attention teasers (stories) only female audience may buy it. The detonation of this front cover is that Aishwarya rai is a noble actress who’s recognised for her beauty and her success in her acting career and since she’s looking directly at us (direct mode of address) deeply, with her hair all over the cover illustrates that she’s the main focus of the magazine as she’s a popular artist so therefore people would be interested in buying the magazine especially her beauty which obviously attracts female audience more than male audience.
