Journalism task

Throughout my journalistic piece my first research was by researching about file downloading and music piracy using the internet. Some of my strengths were my research from books and newspapers, which gave me an idea about file downloading and what are the artist reactions to it. However to make my research more strong with evidence I used mediaguardian website to look for finding facts and statistics and BBC. Plus with my researched I searched further about file downloading facts. This furthered my knowledge about the topic. But however I had less time to research about it and I could have done further research, so I would say it’s my time management into the work. As well as in terms of analyzing from various websites was bit difficult for me as I had less time.

With my journalistic and writing work there was more time for me to work on. Because of the time management, I believe my journalism piece went much better rather than my research. My biggest strength was before typing it up, I made up a plan on my each point and how should I write it. This certainly made my writing structure better and more into proper journalism piece work. And with my organization and my research I finished my work early which gave me more time to check my work properly .Even though my only weakness was I had few artists who supported file downloading and more artist disagreeing with music piracy, if I had equal amount of artists who disliked and liked file downloading, I would have more evidence supporting it as that would balance the both arguments. 

Furthermore with the indesign software I had bit difficulties such as I kept losing all my images and the texts, it took me bit long time to understand and learning it. Using indesign has helped my further with my creativity as in terms of colour font etc; there are more choices and new tools to make our work look effective and stylish. And when I started to become more confident using it, I found it easier to do it and finishing it properly which made my work look similar like a piece of journalistic magazine. The skills that I have learnt from indesign is being more creative by using other tools rather than doing in the same way with the same tool, how to make a proper magazine and lastly how I can do other things such as writing a article . the only problem I had was that I had to reduce the amount of writing, which took more time as I had to rewrite some of the paragraphs shorting it as possible to fit the page, which I certainly didn't like it because I wanted to put facts and statistics more in a bigger way such putting the facts in a box. Although there wasn't any space further other than the images and writings. So if there was more space then I would have posted more images and facts as it would give the audience as idea about file downloading. Since most of the time audience don't like reading long writings except there’s something interested or attention seeker. However I’ still happy with what I wrote. Being writing my journalistic piece I had to decide on a type of magazine I want to write and so hence I choose music magazine as the topic is related to music industry, people would be more interested to read and especially for music lovers it’s something that they all should think of it, since my title is “Killing the music industry am I”, thus I believe my title would catch the audience attention. Along with it, I did audience research as my target audience is 18+ because young people such as teenagers aren't going to be interested in the topics as they are more into the music than the issues. So by choosing 18+ is reasonable for me as I know from my perspective that often older young people are more into reading the issues along with the music. And since the topics came after few years it will be an fascinated topics for my target audience since they are more mature and it could affect; with more young people idolizing their artist such as Miley Cyrus used to be teen role model.  After I finished my work, I had audience feedback regarding the pros and cons of my work. My strength was my big eye catching font, the chosen of images, the background, and my question at the end asking about the file downloading and music piracy which would make my audience think about it. However there should have been more facts about it more in a bigger front but because of the size of the page it made it hard for me to write it. As a result the audience feedback was useful while it gave me an idea about how I should structure more with more images making it more vibrant attacking the audience and also how much I should write in terms of a journalistic writing. The 4 targets I would set for myself is first time management , more proper organization with my work, doing more research and making sure that if I don't understand something I should ask rather than doing it by myself such as having difficulty with uploading my work in blogger.
